devices that collect, condition, and aggregate data from several locations
across the plant. An annunciator panel, also known as a Centralized Warning
Panel (CWP) or a Caution Advisory Panel (CAP) on some aircraft, is a set of
lights that serves as a central indicator of the state of equipment or systems
in an aircraft, industrial process, building, or other facility. You've
undoubtedly seen your fire alarm annunciator panel if you have an addressable
fire alarm system. This is the panel (typically located at the front of your
building) that has a blueprint of your structure as well as various lights and
displays that show where a fire alarm has been activated. An alarm system
(annunciator) is used to draw attention to a plant's abnormal or dangerous

An annunciator panel
is a mechanism in industrial process control that alerts operators to alarm
situations in the plant. There are several back-lit windows, each with the name
of a process alarm inscribed on them. Hard-wired switches in the plant control
the lamps in each window, which are set to turn on when a process condition
becomes abnormal (such as high temperature, low pressure, loss of cooling water
flow, or many others). The window lights are controlled by single point or
multipoint alarm logic modules based on a pre-programmed ISA 18.1 or custom
sequence. When an alert situation is identified, a light in a window will flash
and a bell or horn will sound to catch the operator's attention. The alert can
be silenced by pressing a button, but the window will remain illuminated as
long as the process is in alarm mode. The lighting in the window turns off when
the alert goes off (process condition returns to normal). Because they required
dedicated connection to the alarm starting devices in the process plant,
